She's home and everything is good again.
This story took a long time to finish because it was hard for me. It was hard for me to wrap up this story because it's pretty close to my heart. Watching my kids growing up and getting ready to head out into the world is the ultimate in mixed feelings. I'm so proud of the young women they have become, and so sad knowing that in about a year one of them may not be my daily companion in all things as she heads off to university.
As Elizabeth Stone said, “Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”
I do know that when my daughter does go it's going to change her life, it will change mine, it will change Hope and Harry, it will change everything. She is smart and strong and independent, and she will be ready to go out into the world, I'm just not sure I'm ready for her to go out into the world. Not just yet.
